Dr. Nicole Coderre

Dr. Nicole Coderre received her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 2000 from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, one of the most premier physical therapy programs in the nation. While earning her Master’s degree, Dr. Coderre gained clinical experience in the areas of subacute transitional care, acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient orthopedics. She was also an integral part of a clinical research project that studied the effects of Upper Limb Neurodynamic Testing on the Radial Nerve, which culminated in publication in The Journal of Hand Therapy in October 2009.

While gaining full-time professional experience as a physical therapist in the outpatient orthopedic setting, Dr. Coderre simultaneously pursued her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, graduating in 2002. During that time, she also conducted two case studies, one on the use of eccentric strengthening as a secondary physical therapy intervention for a patient with chronic Achilles tendinosis and the second on the use of Russian stimulation as part of a comprehensive physical therapy program for a patient with recurrent hip dislocations.

Dr. Coderre has spent the past eight years working in an outpatient rehabilitation setting. As a result, she has had the opportunity to critically assess and treat both pediatric and adult patients with a wide range of complex orthopedic and neurological disorders including lower limb amputations, joint replacements, spinal cord injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, as well as injuries related to sports and workman’s compensation. She has also developed and presented seven continuing education courses ranging in topic from a critical analysis of the foot and ankle to therapeutic modalities to basic and advanced lower extremity prosthetic management. Dr. Coderre is a network-wide staff mentor on the foot and ankle, therapeutic modalities, as well as on efficient and effective documentation practices. As a way to enhance her treatment skills, Dr. Coderre has expanded her current area of clinical practice to include outpatient orthopedics and inpatient rehabilitation.

Prior to receiving her advanced degrees, Dr. Coderre received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 in the area of Finance, with a concentration in Spanish. Her previous education has served to help her better understand insurance and reimbursement considerations, as well as allow her to effectively communicate with and treat patients who speak Spanish as their native language.

Dr. Coderre firmly believes that each patient should be treated as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. She takes into consideration the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of each of her patients, in order to develop the plan of care to most effectively achieve each patient’s individual goals. She is also passionate about educating her patients on the specific impairments and functional deficits they face, to enable them to sustain long-term benefits of their rehabilitation.
