After my last knee surgery late summer 2006, I was recommended
to receive physical therapy. I declined for two reasons.
First, the therapy I received after my two prior knee surgeries
seemed like a waste of my time. Second, I swim five times
a week and I thought that should take care of needed exercise.
A problem developed with my knee a few months after the
latest surgery. The knee became unstable and I began favoring
it throughout the day.
Two months ago I began a therapy program for my knee with
Aaron Kraai of DPT. The results are remarkable. I no longer
think about my "bad" knee. It is stable and
strong.
Particularly noteworthy about DPT, Doctors of Physical
Therapy, is that everyone I worked with has a PhD and is
exceedingly knowledgeable. The exercises I performed worked
the muscles in multiple directions and the scientific basis
for my routines was clearly explained to me.
DPT has given me a real chance to avoid another knee surgery.
Sincerely,
Bartley J. Madden

During the spring of 2006, I injured my right shoulder.
My orthopedic physician, based on the x-rays, made a diagnosis
of a "sprain" and prescribed four weeks of
physical therapy.
Fortunately, I had come to know of Dr. Aaron Kraai, DPT.
Doctor Kraai had earned a Doctorate from the University
of Southern California along with advanced training through
an orthopedic Physical Therapy Residence.
Friends of mine had been under his care and all reported
very favorable results. My own background, as a Registered
Nurse, recognized the professionalism of Dr. Kraai and
the other doctors that make up the team at the Lisle Clinic.
They are very dedicated to their profession treating both
the body and the spirit. In an environment that is calming,
caring, and positive, they evaluate, plan, and supervise
a specific physical therapy program for each patient's
needs. I highly recommend Doctors of Physical Therapy.

My son John is a high school basketball player. After
his sophomore basketball season, an MRI indicated that
his right knee had suffered from a condition called osteochondritis
dissecans.
After screw fixation surgery of his right knee and removal
of the screws six weeks later, he was released to play
basketball again. Towards the end of his junior varsity
basketball season, he felt a pop in his right knee. A
follow up MRI indicated that his right knee had not healed. His
surgeon advised us that John would never be able to play
competitive sports again.
My son was devastated but did not want to give up, and
so we took him to Mayo Clinic for a second opinion evaluation. Mayo
suggested physical therapy to strengthen the soft tissue
supporting his right knee.
After about a month of weight training without any significant
progress, we decided to try Doctors of Physical Therapy. After
three months of therapy with Dr. Aaron Kraai, John was
able to play competitive varsity basketball again without
any symptoms to his right knee.
It was a miracle that could not have happened without
Aaron. Aaron has great knowledge and understanding
of the very complex biomechanics of the knee and is an
expert at administering state of the art therapy.
He is the best of the best. I highly recommend Doctors
of Physical Therapy.

The reason for this letter is to genuinely thank you for
the time and effort you shared with me during the rehabilitation
process of my shoulder. It really doesn't seem
like it has been almost a year since I elected to have
a total right shoulder replacement on December 13, 2005.
As you know, since you were present in the operating room
for my procedure, my shoulder joint has severe arthritis
and was virtually locked up from a range of motion perspective. Prior
to the surgery, just to raise my arm was usually a painful
challenge at best; my overall shoulder strength had substantially
been reduced due to muscle atrophy from lack of use over
time.
Fortunately, we began to work on my shoulder only two
days after my surgery. I use the word "we" because
this rehabilitation process was definitely a two-man team
endeavor. You would massage, poke, stretch, pull,
and ice my shoulder while I pushed myself to master the
pulley routines, weights regime, and other stretching/strengthen
exercises as you deemed necessary for my best recovery.
Our conscientious work ethic really paid off; we were
able to get my shoulder in shape to play my first round
of golf by the end of April. I was eventually released
from physical therapy in early June and went on to play
the best golf (score-wise) of my life this year. In
fact, I wrapped up my golf season the day before Thanksgiving
by shooting a 77, the best score in my 42 years of playing
the game.
While this score is a personal achievement, it only pales
in the ability to use my shoulder again with substantial
range of motion, strength, stability, and NO PAIN. It
is largely due to your help and friendship that this is
true. I am deeply appreciative for your dedication,
knowledge, advice, patience, and most importantly encouragement
along my path to recovery. I have highly recommended
you and your colleges to several of my friends in need
of physical therapy services and will continue to do so
in the future. Keep up your vocational call of healing
people. Your success is well deserved.
Sincerely,

I have had trouble with my lower back for about 12 years.
I have seen multiple physical therapists and chiropractors over the years.
When I herniated my two lower disks in November 2006, I was seen by a
surgeon who recommended microdiskectomy surgery. I wanted to avoid surgery
so I gave physical therapy another try. DPT was recommended by the physiatrist
that I saw and this physical therapy experience could not have been more different!
I worked with Dr. Barbara Ostrowska and I would not be overstating things to
say my life has been changed. For the past year, my movement and activities had
been restricted due to the pain in my lower back and down my left leg. After working with
Barbara, she taught me a lot about my body mechanics issues and taught me the proper way to
do the exercises. I have been doing some of the exercises incorrectly all these
years because no prior physical therapist paid attention to how I was doing them.
After years of regular flare-ups and then a year of nearly constant pain, I have been entirely
pain free for almost five months! Dr. Ostrowska is very dedicated, incredibly knowledgeable, a
nd fun to work with. I would highly recommend her to any one requiring the services of a physical therapist.

THANK YOU DPT! I have been in PT several times before for this reoccurring injury,
but you have the best staff I have worked with. Thank you to Dr. Jason Meyer- I appreciate
your support and encouragement. Thank you also to Dr. Audrine Yu and Justin Dexter. If I
ever need more PT, I will be back! Thanks for everything!

I was sent to physical therapy by my doctor due to constant pain in both of my shoulders that radiated across my chest bone. I had been in pain for a few months- the pain would come and go and then it became more constant. At first I tried taking a muscle relaxer- however, this did not help at all. My doctor felt that it was muscle and not joint related and suggested physical therapy.
I started physical therapy with Dr. Monique Sullivan on November 19, 2007. At that initial appointment, I was introduced to the Graston Technique ™. I was a bit skeptical but willing to try anything to reduce my discomfort. Immediately I felt some relief. After a few sessions I could tell we were making progress. I will finish up my therapy soon, and I feel much better. I would highly recommend this technique.

I am a patient of Dr. Monique Sullivan. I have been receiving treatment from her for both muscle and bone pain. She has been using a procedure called the Graston Technique ™ to help me with the pain. After a short time of treatment, I have had my pain reduced and flexibility restored to my next that I previously could hardly turn without pain. I feel this method has greatly helped me!

I am writing to thank both Dr. Monique Sullivan for her incredible level of professionalism and talent and Dr. Aaron Kraii for establishing a first rate physical therapy facility and hiring such talent.
I incurred plantar fasciitis in December of 2007. I spent several weeks undergoing treatment from a different physical therapist at a different practice. The results were poor at best and left me somewhat skeptical about the ability of physical therapy to treat my injury. I was told the methods that were being used were my only options. I discontinued treatment, feeling what many people complain of today; played by a system that is more focused on profitability than patient wellness.
After hearing of the Graston technique that Dr. Sullivan uses and spending some time researching it online myself, I decided to give Doctors of Physical Therapy a try. The results were immediate and amazing.
I felt a genuine concern for my well being and a very specific plan to address my ailment was put in place. The approach of Dr. Sullivan's was very successful in resolving my pain and allowed me to resume a very physical lifestyle. I would highly recommend anyone needing physical therapy to contact Doctors of Physical Therapy.
