- Manual Therapy
Our clinicians receive formal and extensive training in manual therapy from a variety of schools. The manual techniques used by our clinicians are used to address spine, extremity and soft tissue mobility. Those techniques include manipulation, mobilization of the spine and joints, soft tissue manipulation, and trigger point release. These are just few examples of the treatment tools therapist utilize in their treatment protocols to address appropriate dysfunctions.
- Work Conditioning
Our philosophy is to provide clients with the most efficient and effective tools to return to work as quickly as possible. We accomplish this goal by concentrating on restoring cardiovascular endurance, physical abilities, education in proper body mechanics, safety precautions, and finally work simulation to prepare the clients to return to work safely and prevent future injury. Our program concentrates on frequent communication with case managers and employers to facilitate return to work or modify the work demands to accommodate individual needs. We consistently evaluate, determine, and report our findings to case managers to enhance the patient recovery process. We utilize all recent research to report objective data related to functional outcomes and track client's improvements.
- Sports Medicine
Our clinicians acquired extensive knowledge and expertise working with athletes of all levels of performance including young children, professional baseball & basketball players, young high school runners and weekend warriors. We have had opportunities to provide care to local high schools runners when preparing them for the season, marathon runner's front local running clubs, and college bound basket ball players. We take pride in being able to provide highly effective treatment to all levels of athletes from very young high school kids all the way to very mature golf players. It is our goal to provide undivided attention to each patient's goals and consistently tailor our treatment protocols to those clients needs to ensure safety, effectiveness and full return to their desired level of performance. Those programs are based on the most recent research and data to accelerate our client's recovery.
Fall Prevention
This program incorporates the use of extensive balance screening tests for all clients presenting with any risk for falling. We provide free in-home assessments that include a fall risk evaluation as well as home analysis. We also provide screening and treatment for vestibular disorders including but not limited to BPPV.
Fall Facts:
- An older adult with hip muscle weakness, poor balance, and taking more than 4 medications is at 100% risk for a fall.
- 33% of older adults hospitalized due to a fall will die within one year of falling.
- In 1996, the average healthcare cost of a fall was $19,400.00! Imagine what that would cost in today's healthcare industry!
- 50% of older adults that have a fall related injury will not return home or to independent living.
- An older adult is 4 times more lkely to be hospitalized for a fall than for any other injury.
- The leading cause of injury related visits to the emergency room is falls, and those falls are the primary etiology of accidental deaths in older adults.
- Functional Capacity Evaluations
Our practice utilizes a nationally recognized system, The Matheson System, which establishes standards for industry in safety, reliability, and practicality of the examination and outcomes of FCE. The FCE evaluators goal is to investigate, determine, and report on the reliability of a client's reports and efforts. They do so through the use of testing and examination tools which have been published and reviewed for validity in many clinical studies. We individualize the examination to client's needs to answer all necessary questions as related to the vocational needs of the clients.
- Expert Witness Testimony
Our clinicians are available to provide expert testimony in a variety of rehabilitation related cases. Their level of expertise and education in physical therapy makes their statements extremely reliable and well respected. Their testimony and opinion will be base on current research driven treatment practices, industry specific professional guidelines and standards of care, along with years of personal experience in the physical therapy industry.
- Workers Compensation Case Consultation
We offer Workers Compensation consultations including medical records review and utilization review to assist insurance and intermediaries in assessments of service provided to their clients in the area of rehabilitation. We review those records to investigate appropriate use of modalities and treatment protocols as well as consistency of those programs with national standards of practice, professional guidelines, and state regulations.
